Description: The Yazidi are an ethno-religious group who speak primarily Kurmanji (a Kurdish dialect), though a significant minority also speak Arabic as their mother-tongue in a few villages. Their religion has elements of Zoroastrianism mixed with Sufi Islamic practices.
Prayer Points:
• The Yazidis are regarded as heretics by orthodox Muslims and they are they are still recovering from the attempts to ethnically cleanse them by the ISIS terrorist group. Pray that the kindness and protection shown to Yazidi refugees by Christians might open their hearts to receive the gospel.
• Around 100,000 Yazidis have migrated to Germany, and another 60,000 are in Armenia. Pray that in these historically Christian countries believers might reach out to them with the love of Jesus.
• Thousands of Yazidi woman were taken by ISIS soldiers as sex slaves. Pray for their restoration and healing in Christ. Pray for those Christian trauma-care workers who are seeking to help them.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, your heart grieves with the Yazidi and longs to answer their cries. Awaken your church to be your hands and feet for their redemption and restoration.
