Description: The Israeli Jews are the descendents of the ancient Hebrew people, who were scattered throughout the world following successive invasions of their homeland. Encouraged by the Balfour Declaration in 1917, large migration of Jews from over 100 countries began re-settling Palestine.
Prayer Points:
• The ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel, known as the Haredi, continue to push for anti-conversion legislation. Pray for full relgious freedom in Israel, and for the acceptance of Messianic Jews as a recognized and authentic Jewish tradition.
• The number of Messianic Jews, or those Jews who are followers of Jesus but retain their cultural identity as Jews, is rapdily increasing. Their presence has evoked a strong response and debate among the Jewish community about what it means to be a Jew. Pray for continued grace to be given to messianic Jews to be salt and light within their families and society.
• A majority of Jews in Israel are non-practicing, and a high percentage are athiestic. Pray for deliverance from the spirit of secularism and for wisdom to be given to God's people to answer difficult questions Jews face.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the Jewish people enter into the fullness of their purpose as a nation called to bless all nations through your Son Jesus.
Every year 45,000 Israeli Jews die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
