Description: The Yarsan are an ethno-religious community in Iran and Iraq. Their religion was founded in the 14th century AD and is a syncretistic blend between Islam and other near-east religious influences. They are primarily Gorani and Sorani Kurds.
Prayer Points:
• The Yarsan believe that their founder, Sultan Sahak, was the last divine manifestation of God. Pray for deliverance from false messiahs and that the door of their hearts might be opened to embrace God's one and only Son.
• The Yarsan are related to the Alawi Kurds in Turkey, among which many thousands have come to faith in recent years. Pray that God might raise up a missions movement from among these believers that will reach the Yarsan.
• The Yarsan have their roots in Sufism, a mystical form of Islam that desires a mystical relationship with God. Pray that this desire to know God more intimately might lead them to saving faith in Jesus Christ, the only way to the Father.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, you see the longings and hopes of the Yarsan people and desire to bring them into your family. May they be awakened by your Spirit to your eternal plan and purpose for them in the gospel.
Every year 3,000 Yarsan die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
