Description: The Kochi are Pashtun nomads in Afghanistan who are primarily from the Ghilji tribal confederacy. Their numbers were once as high as 2.4 million, but due to conflict over the decades the number of Kochi that are still nomadic has been reduced considerably to around 1.5 million.
Prayer Points:
• The nomadic lifestyle of the Kochi has brought them into conflict with many non- Pashtun tribes in Afghanistan. As a result the United Nations has designated the Kochi as one of the largest vunerable populations in the world. Pray for creative ministry that will meet their needs and open doors for long-term gospel witness.
• The Kochi have been a strong supporter of the Taliban and helped them come to power. Pray for deliverance from the spiritual oppression of Islamic extremism and that the Taliban would be discredited in their eyes.
• The Kochi have traditionally been responsible for a great deal of trading throughout Afghanistan. Pray that this heritage might be transformed into a spiritual legacy of bringing Jesus to all the tribes of Afghanistan.
