May 30 / Afshari

Description: The Afhsari are a Turkic speaking people related to the Azeri. They live primarily in northwest Iran, near the city of Kemerman. They are semi-nomadic and can be found in Syria, Turkey and Afghanistan. Afshari women are famous for their carpets and decorative artifacts.

Prayer Points:
• There is no known work among any Afshari populations anywhere in the world. Pray that the emerging church in Iran might get a burden for reaching them.
• The Afshari connect to the world through radio. Pray for a radio ministry to begin broadcasting in their language and that many might hear and respond.
• Women enjoy a place of honor and privelege among the Afshari, and some have become leaders among them. Pray that the Holy Spirit might awaken Afshari women to the message of the gospel, and that they might lead their children to follow Jesus.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, draw the Afshari to your throne of grace and birth within them a passion for knowing you and the salvation only you can bring.

Every year 3,000 Afshari die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
