Description: The Kalmyk-Oirat are a Mongolian related tribe which live in most of the countries of Central Asia, but are concentrated in Russia and China. In Russia they are called Kalmyk and in China they are called Oirat. The autonomous region of Kalmykia in Russia has Europe's only Buddhist government.
Prayer Points:
• There are no known believers among the Oirat in China, which number around 250,000 people. Recently workers have begun evangelistic ministry among them. Pray for receptivity to the gospel and for reconciliation with the Chinese, who massacred the Oirat in the 18th century.
• The Oirat are practitioners of black magic, which they use against their enemies. Pray for the protection of missionaries and new believers from the spiritual forces of darkness.
• The Scriptures were published in the Kalmyk-Oirat language over 150 years ago and are in need of updating. Pray for those working on this project and that the Scriptures would be made available in every community.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, may your word be firmly established among the Kalmyk-Oirat and your kingdom become manifest in their midst.
