August 2 / Panjabi Muslim

Description: The Muslim Panjabi are the dominant people in the fertile Punjab plains and the largest people group in Pakistan. The word Panj-aab means land of the five rivers. They are the descendants of the ancient Indus river civilization, which rivaled Mesopotamia and China at the height of its power.

Prayer Points:
• Shariah law in Pakistan forbids the conversion of Muslims. Pray for the repeal of this law and for the protection of the courageous believers who have taken a stand for Christ. Pray also that the government of Pakistan would not fall into the hands of Muslim extremists and that the rights of all religious groups would be protected.
• 250,000 Muslim Punjabi have immigrated to Great Britain. Ask God to use the believers there to sensitively share the gospel with their new neighbors.
• Some of the highest abuse of women in the Muslim world occurs among the Punjabi. Pray for their salvation and for an effective ministry among them. Pray also that God would change the hearts of Panjabi men through the power of the gospel.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, though the Panjabi seem to be isolated from the good news of salvation they are not beyond reach of your love. Reveal to each of them your eternal purposes and plans through your Son Jesus.

Every year 675,000 Panjabi Muslims die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
