August 7 / Sindhi Muslims

Description: The Sindhi Muslims are the descendants of many dozens of tribes and peoples from Central Asia and NE India, which have adopted the Sindhi language as their mother tongue and the religion of Islam. In rural areas, most of these peoples still form distinct communities called "zat", which function as endogamous castes (marrying only amongst themselves)

Prayer Points:
• A Christian radio program in Sindhi has begun broadcasting in Pakistan. Pray that many would become regular listeners and for effective follow-up with inquirers.
• A coalition of agencies and adopting churches have come together to deploy missionary teams among the Sindhi. Pray for God's blessing on this partnership and for the beginning of new work in Karachi, the Sindhi capital.
• The Sindhi were converted to Sunni Islam by Sufi missionaries who lived among them as men of prayer and piety. Pray that God might raise up intercessory missionaries that demonstrate the fullness of God's power.

A Prayer: Heavenly Father, once the Sindhi were Hindus, now most are Muslims, but we know the day is coming when many will embrace the truth of the gospel. May your Holy Spirit bring them to the foot of the cross and rescue them from all deception.

Every year 170,000 Sindhi Muslims die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
