Description: The Jebala are a Berber ethnicity who adopted the Arabic language between the 10th and 15th centuries. Their name comes from the Arabic world Jbel, which means mountain, a reference to the Jebala identity as a mountain-people. Their unique Arabic dialect has influences from both Berber words and the Spanish language.
Prayer Points:
• The Jebala have been recently engaged with the gospel and church planting has begun among them. Pray for God's protection over the church-planters and for the the few believers which have begun to respond.
• Around 25,000 Jebala have migrated to France where there is more freedom to reach them. Pray that believers in France might make intentional effort to seek out the Jebala and introduce them to Jesus.
• The Jebala live in a beautiful, mountainous region of Morocco, which is frequented by tourists. Pray that God might raise up a steady stream of faithful Christian witness who will visit the Jebala regularly and develop friendships among them.
A Prayer: Heavenly Father, strengthen the new beginning of your church among the Jebala and pour out your grace on those seeking to find the truth in Jesus.
Every year 10,000 Jebala die without Christ, many of whom never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Let's do something to change that.
